Author of the award-winning 2010 book Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin, Yale professor Timothy Snyder comes to the Chicago Humanities Festival at the UIC Forum to talk about his latest tome, Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning. Dubbed one of the "leading historians of his generation" by The New York Times, Snyder, who speaks and reads 11 languages, has already sparked some controversy with his new book, which repositions the Nazi genocide as arising out of a perceived ecological crisis, and how that same issue is poised to erupt into violence today.
