Lookingglass Theatre Company's 2016-17 season features four plays that are at turns hilarious, heartwarming, heart-wrenching and heroic. See one with three friends, all four on your own, or any other combination you can come up with, as your flex pass gets you four tickets that are redeemable throughout the season. And there's plenty to be excited about. Life Sucks brings seven incurably lusty and lovelorn characters together on a collision course in Aaron Posner's (Stupid F*#king Bird) brash, revelatory reworking of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. Never has unhappiness been so much fun! In the fanciful Mr. and Mrs. Pennyworth, two traveling storytellers circle the globe weaving extraordinary tales, until a mysterious death sends them on a journey to save the beloved stories. Beyond Caring is a gritty portrait of those who work, invisibly, at the margins of society and on the knife-edge of survival. Full of life, humor and tenderness, this U.S. premiere sheds light on America's shadow economy and the incendiary intersection of race and class. And to wrap up the season in grand fashion, the critically acclaimed Moby Dick -- winner of four Jeff Awards, including Best Production, and fresh off a national tour -- returns to the Lookingglass stage in this harrowing and intoxicating exploration of revenge, obsession, and destiny. All four plays will be performed on the company's main stage in the Water Tower Water Works building on the Magnificent Mile.
