The Great Chicago Fire

This neighborhood wasn't always one of the city's most prestigious. In 1871 a massive fire ripped through Chicago causing great destruction along Michigan Avenue and Magnificent Mile. The only structure to make it through was the famous Water Tower that still stands today as a beacon of hope.

Water Tower Place

Named after one of the only buildings to survive the great Chicago Fire, today this shopping complex is one of the nation's top destinations for fashion, gourmet dining, and spas. There are over 100 stores to browse in this luxurious eight-story mall with a spectacular indoor atrium.
